Про историю всего соединения могу сказать лишь то, что информацию о книгах я взял с сайта www.ospreypublishing.com, там эта книга относится именно к 1 мировой войне.

Я собирался выкладывать так: по союзным блокам с разбивкой по странам. Вопрос: что делать с уже выложенными книгами - просто дать ссылку (разумеется с указанием авторства) либо переложить еще раз?
Что думает уважаемая публика?

Да, это можно сделать. Если нужно разобрать PDF на странички (JPEG, например), то все просто - жмем команду "сохранить как..." в меню "файл". И в формате файла выбираем JPEG, а не PDF. Соответственно, каждая страница сохранится как отдельный файл JPG.
Если же нужно вытащить картинки из PDF-документа, то нужно найти команду "extract all images" (в 6-й версии эта команда называется "export all images" в пункте меню "advanced").

К сожалению, никаких этих функций не нашел в своем 5-м акробате.

Начинаем 1-ю мировую войну.

Первая мировая война 1914—1918 - война между двумя коалициями держав: Центральными державами (Германия, Австро-Венгрия, Турция, Болгария) и Антантой (Россия, Франция, Великобритания, Сербия, позднее Япония, Италия, Румыния, США и др.; всего 34 государства).

Поводом к войне послужило убийство членом организации “Молодая Босния” наследника австро-венгерского престола эрцгерцога Франца Фердинанда. 15 (28) июля 1914 Австро-Венгрия объявила войну Сербии, 19 июля (1 августа) Германия — России, 21 июля (3 августа) — Франции, 22 июля (4 августа) Великобритания — Германии.
Создав перевес в войсках на Западном фронте, Германия в 1914 оккупировала Люксембург и Бельгию и начала быстрое продвижение к Парижу. Однако наступление российских войск в Восточной Пруссии вынудило Германию снять часть войск с Западного фронта (в результате российские войска понесли тяжёлое поражение). В августе — сентябре 1914 российские войска нанесли поражение австро-венгерским войскам в Галиции, в конце 1914 — начале 1915— турецким войскам в Закавказье. В 1915 силы Центральных держав, ведя стратегическую оборону на Западном фронте, вынудили российские войска оставить Галицию, Царство Польское, часть Прибалтики, нанесли поражение Сербии.
В 1916 после неудачной попытки германских войск прорвать оборону союзников в районе Вердена (Франция) стратегическая инициатива перешла к Антанте. Кроме того, тяжёлое поражение, нанесённое австро-германским войскам в мае — июле 1916 в Галиции, фактически предопределило развал главного союзника Германии — Австро-Венгрии. В августе 1916 под влиянием успехов Антанты на её стороне в войну вступила Румыния, однако её войска действовали неудачно и в конце 1916 были разгромлены. В то же время на Кавказском театре инициатива продолжала сохраняться за российской армией, занявшей в 1916 Эрзурум и Трапезунд.
Начавшийся после Февральской революции 1917 развал российской армии позволил Германии и её союзникам активизировать свои действия на других фронтах, что, однако, не изменило ситуации в целом. После заключения сепаратного Брестского мира с Россией (3 марта 1918) германское командование предприняло массированное наступление на Западном фронте. Войска Антанты, ликвидировав результаты германского прорыва, перешли в наступление, завершившееся разгромом Центральных держав. 29 сентября 1918 капитулировала Болгария, 30 октября —Турция, 3 ноября —Австро-Венгрия, 11 ноября— Германия.

В ходе первой мировой войны мобилизовано около 74 млн. человек, общие потери составили около 10 млн. убитых и свыше 20 млн. раненых.

Думаю начнем с Антанты.

Антанта (от французского Entente, буквально — согласие), “Тройственное согласие”, союз Великобритании, Франции и России, направленный против Германии и её союзников; оформлен рядом соглашений в 1904—07, объединил в ходе первой мировой войны свыше 20 государств (среди них США, Япония, Италия). После октября 1917 и принятия Декрета о мире Россия фактически вышла из Антанты, что было подтверждено заключением сепаратного Брестского мира 1918.
