Я скачал и понял, почему у меня эта книга весит меньше, причём на много. Здесь страницы больше размером, получается, что вокруг картинки полно свободного места (размер страницы выбран неправильно). Качество же тоже самое (по крайней мере я не заметил разницы). Так что я закачаю свой вариант, сранвите кому нужно.

А кто-ниубдь пробовал сравнить содержание? Arab-Israeli Air Wars:
Различия есть по картинкам, а текст практически один и тот же... страницы 8-13 в Men & legends поностью повторяют страницы 56-61 в Combat aircraft. Дальше сравнивать не стал, по моему это какая-то фигня. И на оф.сайте Osprey никаких упоминаний о серии Aircraft of the Aces: Men & Legends нет.

А там так и написано Based on Arab-Israeli Air Wars 1947-82 by Shlomo Aloni. Текст тот же самый, картинки иногда местами переставлены посравнению с оригиналом. В общем это сторонее издательство под видом новой серии впихивает тот же самый Combat Aircrafts 23 только урезаный на 35 страниц.

Несколько страниц назад обсуждалось как делать OCR книг. В связи с выработанной схемой возник вопрос - зачем выгружать готовый макет в из FineReader в Word для последующего формирования PDF-файла, а не формировать PDF-файл прямо из FineReader. Какой сакральный смысл в дополнительных действиях.

All pdf files are made from pictures with a certain resolution (hence the quality of them - bigger resolution, better quality, bigger file sizes). Adobe Acrobat Pro (which I prefere and use) have the possibility to extract the pictures from a pdf file (every page means one picture), and then compress them to get smaller files in size, but with lower quality. Sometimes it doesn't matter really - the case of books with few (if not without any) pictures.
In your example, the file uploaded to megaupload.com is bigger because the pictures forming that file have bigger resolutions (the plates should look nicer for instance); the one from simpleupload is smaller 'cause it has pages (pictures that compose the pdf file, not the photos from within the book) with lower resolution - it doesn't mean that the book is incomplete. If you have a good connection or the time for downloading doesn't matter, or if you're more interrested in file quality, get the one from megaupload. If it's all the same to you, then get the one from simpleupload.de and move on to the next book

Если не трудно можно более развернуто? В FineReader ведь настраивается разрешение для выгрузки картинок

Его ответ относился только к тому, чем различаются файлы , загруженные на rapidshare и simpleupload. Отличаются они разрешением. Там все страницы идут в виде картинок. FineReader'ом при их создании никто не пользовался. Распознанный файл такого содержания весил бы не более 10 Мб... Ворд используют, (по крайней мере я) потому что FineReader всё же не текстовый редактор, да и настроек сохранения ПДФ в нём нет таких, какие можно задать в виртулаьном прнтере при печати в ПДФ.
